50+ years of musical experience
30+ years of sharing musical insights

As an experienced musician, musicologist, and Music Coach, I work with adults and seniors looking to achieve music goals, create balanced lifestyles, and make meaningful shifts in their personal and social lives.

My goal is to help you either rekindle your love of playing music or choose an instrument and find ways to actively enjoy "musicking." Together, we'll develop new supportive habits, identify and remove obstacles, and improve your overall satisfaction and well-being.

Ready for a pleasant shift in your life? Let's explore how 1:1 coaching can provide the benefits you're looking for.

"Beethoven said that it's better to hit the wrong note confidently, than hit the right note unconfidently."

Never be afraid to be wrong or to embarrass yourself; we are all students in this life, and there is always something more to learn.

What is Music Experience Coaching?

It's not music lessons. It's not a music school. It's your personal musical adventure.

Imagine having a musical companion who walks alongside you, discovers with you, and creates with you – that's Music Experience Coaching.

Most of us grew up thinking music was something we listen to. But there's a whole world of active music-making – or as I call it, "musicking" – waiting to be explored. The difference is profound: instead of being a passive consumer, you become an active creator, explorer, and participant in the musical experience.

As your Music Experience Coach, I don't teach you music the way schools do. Instead, I partner with you to uncover musical worlds you might never discover on your own. We make music together, record it, sing together, arrange songs, and dive into activities that benefit you physically, mentally, and socially.

Think of me as your musical adventure guide – someone who knows the terrain and can help you explore safely, confidently, and joyfully, no matter where your curiosity leads.

Your Musical Journey With Me

1

Discovery Together

We start by exploring what draws you to music. Maybe you've always wanted to try something, or perhaps you have an old musical dream. We discover this together – no pressure, just curiosity.

2

Active Exploration

Instead of practicing scales alone, we might jam together, experiment with sounds on an iPad, or explore how your voice feels when you sing without judgment. Every session is an adventure.

3

Creative Partnership

We create music together – whether that's arranging a simple song, recording something in our home studio, or just discovering what happens when we play around with different sounds.

4

Personal Growth

Through our musical adventures, you naturally develop confidence, improve physically (breathing, posture), connect socially, and experience the deep satisfaction of creative expression.

What We Might Explore Together

Simple Beginnings

Ear training games, breathing exercises while humming your favorite melody, or discovering what sounds you can make with everyday objects.

Technology Adventures

Creating beats on an iPad, recording your voice and layering harmonies, or using our home studio to produce your first original composition.

Collaborative Musicking

Singing together, arranging a song that means something to you, or preparing for a small house concert where you can share your musical growth.

Deep Dives

Creating elaborate electronic compositions using DAW software, exploring complex harmonies, or analyzing and recreating music that moves you.

The beauty is, we don't know where your curiosity will lead until we start exploring together.

AI as Your Creative Partner

And we can invite another creative partner to help us in our explorations – the AI. Just as technology gave us iPads as instruments, AI is opening entirely new creative possibilities. Instead of fearing AI, we can learn to use it as another creative tool in our musical adventures.

AI doesn't replace human creativity – it amplifies it. Together, we'll explore how these tools can support your musical journey while keeping your human expression at the center.

Why Active Music-Making Changes Everything

Today's world has turned most of us into passive music consumers. We listen to playlists, attend concerts, maybe tap our feet – but we rarely experience the profound joy and benefits that come from actively creating music ourselves.

When you shift from passive listening to active "musicking," something magical happens:

  • Your brain lights up in ways that passive listening can't achieve
  • Your body engages through breathing, movement, and coordination
  • Your emotions find expression in ways words often can't
  • Your social connections deepen through shared musical experiences
  • Your confidence grows as you discover capabilities you never knew you had

This isn't about becoming a "musician" in the traditional sense. It's about becoming an active participant in the universal human experience of making music – something we're all born to do.
